GENERAL SERVICES

Searching for a General Service?

A General Service will keep your vehicle running smoothly and safely all year round.

This General Service maintains lubricant and fluid levels, together with a check or inspection of brakes, exhaust, steering & suspension and other key safety items.

Your vehicle is road tested and you will receive a report of our inspection.

We know cars but we also know their drivers!

A General Car Service starts from $325, and we will walk you through exactly what has been done or call you if we notice something that needs your immediate attention during the service. We always want you to know what we do and why we do it.

Alternatively you can always message us or call us through the day for updates and for any further information you may need in regards to your vehicle.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY CAR SERVICED?

Most relatively new vehicles should be serviced every six months, or 10,000km (whichever comes first).

Keep in mind, however, if you drive an older car, or you drive in harsh conditions, it is recommended that you have it serviced every three months or 5,000km, which ever does come first.

HOW LONG DOES A GENERAL SERVICE TAKE?

It is hard to give an exact time allocation of how long a General Service will take as each car is different and does have different requirements.

When booking your General Service a rule of thumb would be to allow at least an hour and a half.

Please also remember as part of your service to our customers if you need to be dropped off at the Grand Plaza to complete some Retail Therapy whilst we are looking after your car – please mention this on booking and one of our friendly staff will be more than happy to drop you at the Grand Plaza whilst you wait.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GENERAL SERVICE & A MAJOR SERVICE?

Do you wonder what the difference is between a General Service and a Major Service?

Here is the lowdown on the difference:

A General Service includes a comprehensive vehicle inspection and diagnostic check, and normally the engine oil and filter only replaced.

This can be part of a log book service. but normally referred to as a General Service – A General Service is normally conducted every 6 months or 10,000km (whichever comes first)

A Major Service includes and is not limited to: replacing transmission and differential oils, which lubricates the ring and pinion gears that transfer power from the driveshaft to the wheel axles.

You can also count on checking and replacing brake and clutch fluid, adjusting tappet clearance to make sure the most important parts in your engine keep running in optimal condition.

It also the time to check and replace wheel bearing grease, to name but a few of the additional items required. Depending on the vehicle, conditions in which it is driven, and the manufacturer requirements, a major service normally occurs after two General Services, so in theory every three years or 30,000km (whichever comes first).

This is also the time in which spark plugs, cabin and fuel filters and timing belts are also replaced if needed and as per the specifications of the vehicle.

As a lot more does go into a Major Service when booking this in with us, please also keep in mind time to complete this is a minimum of 2 and a half hours up to 4 hours as a guide.
